About
I’ve always been drawn to the corners of the world that require a little grit to explore. Originally from Alaska, my life has been an unconventional jigsaw puzzle: I’ve lived on a container ship, survived off the grid in the rural arctic wilderness, hustled in cities like Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Knoxville, and spent more than a decade working as a paramedic.
Working in emergency medicine, particularly in unforgiving environments, you develop an appreciation for high stakes, sudden twists, and a beautifully sardonic sense of reality. I’ve also seen some pretty bizarre and unexplainable shit. That real-world edge is exactly what I pour into my fiction. I write character-driven upmarket thrillers and speculative stories featuring resilient protagonists who know exactly what it means to be pushed to their limits.
Today, I’ve traded scraping ice from my windshield in the north for new adventures in the vibrant, high-contrast landscape of the Texas-Mexico borderlands. When I’m not at my desk plotting psychological traps or weaving dark, atmospheric suspense, I’m busy running a local business, diving deep into early 20th-century science and medical history, and keeping my eyes peeled for the next great story.
